Phishing Scam Alert

The New Jersey Judiciary is aware of a recent phishing scam impersonating the New Jersey Courts about enforcement penalties. Fraudulent text messages claim residents owe traffic fines and threaten suspensiono of driving privileges, increased toll charges, and damage to credit scores if payment isn't made.

The New Jersey Judiciary never initiates unsolicited texts or emails threatening enforcement actions. Parties can make payments by accessing NJMCdirect via njcourts.gov.

Remain vigilant when receiving unsolicited communications, especially those asking you to click links or share personal information.

The Joint Municipal Court covers the jurisdictions of Frankford, Lafayette, Sandyston, Montague, Walpack, and Hampton, Sussex County (Court code 1905).

The Shared Municipal Court covers the jurisdiction of Blairstown, Warren County (Court code 2104).

Court sessions are held on the second Wednesday and the second, third, and fourth Thursdays of the month. Please refer to your court notice or call the municipal court to see if your appearance is being held virtually or in person.

Payments

If you make a payment in person, fines may be paid in cash, money order, or check.
Payment by mail may be made by money order or check, please do not send cash in the mail.
Most payments can now be paid online at www.NJMCdirect.com
Frankford’s Court Code is 1905. Blairstown's Court Code is 2104.

Expedited Expungement
If you are charged with a disorderly persons offense, petty disorderly persons offense, or a municipal ordinance violation, and those charges are either dismissed, you are acquitted, or your case is discharged without a conviction or finding of guilt, you may be eligible for an expedited expungement pursuant to NJ.S.A. 2C:52-6. For more information and to determine if you are eligible, you may inquire with the municipal court at the time of disposition.

Mediation
Mediation is a confidential, structured, non-adversarial process that allows a neutral third party to assist disputing parties in reaching a mutually acceptable solution. The mediation process can be a less expense, informal, and more meaningful alternative than the traditional trial process. This is because of the efforts of trained volunteers and resolution being decided by the participants. The court will refer appropriate cases to mediation.
